Martin Police Department Investigates Shooting

On Wednesday, Nov. 1 at approximately 11:30 a.m., officers of the Martin Police Department responded to Hillsboro Street in reference to  an individual that had been shot.

When Police arrived, they found a 28-year-old male victim bleeding from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim was transported by ambulance directly to Air Evac base and flown to Memphis. The victim later died from his injuries.

Martin Police Department, with the assistance of Weakley County Sheriff Terry McDade and the Weakley County Sheriff’s Office, arrested 55-year-old Lawrence Rodriguez without incident at a private residence at 9 p.m. 

Rodriquez has been charged with First Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault and is currently being held at the Weakley County Detention Center.
