The 47th Annual Weakley County Chamber Stephen Wright Memorial Industry Appreciation Golf Tournament was held Thursday, May 15th at Persimmon Hills Golf Course. Nineteen teams registered for the yearly event that honors the late Stephen Wright, a longtime Chamber supporter and community advocate.
Teams represented a wide cross-section of local industry, financial institutions, infrastructure and utilities companies, and government office representatives. Registered teams included: ATA CPAs and Advisors; Champion Homes; City of Sharon; Fitness 1440; Edward Jones & Greenfield Banking Company; Imerys Clay; Parker Hannifin Sporlan Division; RaeKar & C&B Linen; Security Bank & Trust; Sims, Wilson, and Brigance; Southern Source Industrial and Printing; Stanley Black and Decker; U.S. Brick; UT Martin Athletics; Vaughn Electric & Consolidated Crane Services; Weakley County Municipal Electric System [WCMES]; West Tennessee Healthcare Volunteer Hospital; West Tennessee Public Utility District; and Westan Insurance.
The tournament began with lunch provided by WCMES, a start call at 12:30PM, and conclusion around 5:00PM with team and contest winners announced.
The first-place prize of $720 was awarded to the Edward Jones and Greenfield Banking Company team. Second place and a $540 prize went to the ATA team. Third place, with a $420 prize, was awarded to the Parker Hannifin Sporlan Division team. All cash prizes were made possible through the combined sponsorship of Weakley County Municipal Electric System, Edward Jones, First Citizens National Bank, Hamilton Ryker, and the Chamber.
The UT Martin Athletics, Security Bank & Trust, and Champion Homes teams were the three teams randomly drawn to receive $120 each. The putting contest, sponsored by Champion Homes, awarded a $100 gift card to winner Lucas Rutkowski, and Jeremy Allen won the half earnings from the putting contest.

Lunch was sponsored by WCMES, and refreshments and beverages were provided by Union City Coca-Cola, Volunteer Distributing Company, Weakley County Register of Deeds April Jones, Weakley County Trustee Marci Floyd, and West Tennessee Public Utility District.
“This tournament has been a historically great event, and it means a lot to all of us to continue honoring Mr. Stephen Wright, who gave so much to this community,” said Weakley Chamber Golf Tournament Committee Chair Tony Robinson. “It’s always a great day, and I’m happy to help out and be a part of this meaningful event each year.”

The golf committee consists of Chairman Tony Robinson of Edward Jones, Brad Branscum of First Community Bank of the Heartland, Shelly Bowers of WCMES, Cody Martin of Westan Insurance, Steven Scott of Persimmon Hills Golf Course, and Weakley County Chamber staff. Volunteers for the event include Shelly Bowers of WCMES, Hannah Stewart of UT Martin, Stefania Wheeler of United Way West TN, Heather Adams of JC Educational & Office Supply, Miranda Hitt of the Dresden Enterprise, and Nathaniel Newlin of First Community Bank of the Heartland.
