Martin-Westview’s Jack Mantooth was the state runner-up in the Class A-AA boys’ cross country meet Thursday at Sanders Perry Park in Hendersonville. Mantooth had a time of 15:45.59.
McKenzie’s Abigal Wallace crossed the finish line in 18:55.41 to take home fifth place and a medal at the girls’ A-AA state cross country meet. Wallace becomes the first McKenzie medalist at the state meet since 2008, when Mark Cole was the state runner up with a time of 16:32.49. The Lady Rebels, as a team, finished 15th overall.
Meanwhile, Huntingdon’s Shawn Simpson appeared on the post-race medal stand with a 14th-place finish and a time of 16:30.95
Other area teams under the Richardson Media Group umbrella included Brighton, Camden, Covington, Dresden, Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central, Huntingdon, McEwen and Martin-Westview. McKenzie, Camden, Huntingdon and Brighton were the only squads to send a full teams. Camden and Huntingdon sent full boys’ and girls’ teams to the meet.
McKenzie’s Autumn Haywood finished 98th at 22:52.72; Bella Sass was 104th with a time of 23:07.62; Gracie Aird crossed in 25.38.96, good for 179th place; Morgan Little was in at 27:21.21 and took 209th place; Madeline Gottshall was 216th at 27:58.21; Briley Rogers was right behind her at 217 with a time of 27:59.08.
Brighton was led by Aeryl Potter with a time of 25:20.90, good for 174th; Genevieve Maclin was 205th with a time of 27:02; Diana Gobellan finished with a time of 27:48.14 at 215th place; Jade Lutrell Davis was 230th, finished at 29:20.53; Marley Spahr was 234th with a time of 29:53.15; Mia Rodriquez crossed in 30:15 for 236th place; Helena Toldeo was 240th at 31:28.16.
Camden’s Kaydence Christopher was 64th with a time of 21:54:38; Jaylin Hagler was 156th at 24:56.40. Paislee Matlock crossed at 25:00.42 for 157th; Katie Ramlow was 164th with a time of 25:08.24; Sadie Fry was 168th with a time of 25:13.41 and Katlin Martine was 183 with a time of 25.46.96.
Camden’s boys were led by Pete Douglas, brother of two-time state champion Will Douglas, with a time of 17:20.44, good for 44th place; Matthew Arnold was 91sth at 18:16.82; Kade Johnson was 171st with a time of 19:45.26; Jackson Thornton was 182nd at 19:58.92; Everett Jones was 241st with a time of 21:56.74; Gavin Rogers crossed at 24:05.70 in 255th.
Huntingdon’s Blaine Todd was 51st in the boys’ race with a time of 17:24.62. Cole Chafin was 112th with a time of 18:37. 07; Carson Watters was 146th, finishing at 19:11.78; Zachary Watkins was 147th with a time of 19:14. 59, good for 147th; E.J. Lewis was 177th with a time of 19:52.18; Cody Wilson was 197th at 20:14.33.
Izabel Young finished 50th for Camden, coming in at 21:30.44. Amelia Mason was 109 with a time of 23:11.56.
Kinlee Carver of Covington finished in 23:55.19 for 136th, followed by Lauron Middlebrooks in 188th place with a time of 26:02.37.
Bailey Warthington was 107th for Dresden with a time of 23:10.76. Hollow Rock-Bruceton’s Madison Holder finished in 22:04.07, good for 67th place. Huntingdon’s Quinn Kelley was 52nd overall with a time of 21:34.47. McEwen’s Kaiden Hedge was 102nd, crossing at 18:27.50 for the Warrior boys. Westview’s Alaina Usleton came in at 20:40,39 for 27th place.
Covington’s Trey Narcisse represented the Charger boys with a 20:13.28, crossing in 195th place.
