As we approach this year’s 4th of July festivities, a variety of events have been planned to ensure an unforgettable experience for residents and visitors alike. From the Martin Sesquicentennial Celebration, complete with a Star Spangled Celebration and a kick-off concert, to the unveiling of a long-awaited time capsule and the grand “Martin Loves America” fireworks show, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Martin Sesquicentennial Celebration: Star Spangled Celebration

Get ready for a week filled with festivities as the City of Martin commemorates its 150th anniversary with the Martin Sesquicentennial Celebration. The Star Spangled Celebration kicks off the festivities on Thursday, June 29, at the downtown stage in Martin. Enjoy an evening of live music by the Martin Community Band, starting at 7 p.m. Food trucks will be available from 4:30 p.m. onwards, ensuring a delightful culinary experience for everyone.

4th of July Celebration: Farmers Market Fun

On Saturday, July 1, head over to the Martin Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to noon for an exciting 4th of July Celebration. Engage in various activities while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of the market. Be a part of the 150 Kick-Off Concert featuring the Roy Band, which includes the talented Brady Weldon. Experience the magic of community spirit through music and celebrate the City of Martin’s Sesquicentennial in style.

Music, Food Trucks, and Inflatables at Festival Park

Gear up for an unforgettable evening of entertainment on Saturday, July 1, at Festival Park in downtown Martin. Prepare to rock out with the Roy Band, Nashville’s premier tribute to the best of 1980s hard rock, pop-rock, and glam rock music. The high energy, diverse song list, and expert sound of Roy Band guarantee an exhilarating experience. Food trucks open at 4 p.m., and the inflatable attractions will be available for kids of all ages. The Roy Band concert begins at 7:30 p.m., so bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy a night of nostalgia, giveaways, and non-stop fun.

Unveiling the Time Capsule and More

Don’t miss the special Time Capsule Ceremony taking place on Tuesday, July 4, at the C.E. Weldon Building in downtown Martin. Join Mayor Randy Brundige as he hosts the opening of the time capsule buried during the Centennial Celebration 50 years ago. The ceremony starts at 10 a.m., and attendees will have the opportunity to witness history unfold. Enjoy light refreshments while being a part of this unique moment.

Martin Loves America: Spectacular Fireworks Show

The City of Martin invites you to join them for the “Martin Loves America” FREE Fireworks Show, promising the biggest bang in Northwest Tennessee. On the evening of July 4th, head to the Martin Rec Complex located at 8457 Highway 45E South. As the sun sets, get ready to be dazzled by a spectacular display of fireworks. Bring your picnic supplies, chairs, and refreshments to relax and enjoy the show with family and friends. You can choose to spread out on the grass or watch the fireworks from the comfort of your vehicle.

Fireworks Extravaganza at Latham Dukedom Fire Dept.

On Saturday, July 8, the Latham Dukedom Volunteer Fire Department invites you to their 3rd Annual Fireworks Show. Join in the celebration of independence with free hamburgers, hotdogs, and bouncy houses for the children. The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Latham Dukedom Fire Dept., promising an evening of community spirit, fun, and awe-inspiring fireworks. Don’t miss out on this family-friendly event.

Independence Day Celebration at Discovery Park of America

Take a short trip to Union City on Saturday, July 1, and celebrate America’s independence at Discovery Park of America. Engage with living historians, participate in the “Ringing of the Bell” ceremony, and enjoy colonial games and activities throughout the park. Don’t forget to explore the Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit and embark on a thrilling scavenger hunt. Historical interpreter Jeff Talley will provide insights into the Declaration of Independence and mid-1700s printing and bookbinding. The celebration, sponsored by Walmart, promises a memorable experience for all.

Fulton Tourism Commission’s Baseball Game and Fireworks

The Fulton Tourism Commission presents an Independence Day celebration during the Fulton Railroaders vs. Paducah Chiefs baseball game on Tuesday, July 4. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. at Lohaus Field, and admission is free for the first 300 spectators, courtesy of the Fulton Tourism Commission. Be prepared for a stunning fireworks display launching from Fulton City Park, creating a perfect ending to a day filled with patriotic joy.
After the game, those in attendance can bring in their blankets and lawn chairs and join the team on the baseball field to watch the city’s fireworks show.

Cottage Grove Freedom Festival

Community members are invited to Cottage Grove on Tuesday for its 48th annual Freedom Festival. A TurkeyTrap Shoot will kick off the day’s events at 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the corner of 140 and Hayes Road.

A parade starts at 10 a.m., with the opening of the country store at 10:30 a.m. An auction is planned from 1-2, with Bingo following from 3-5 p.m. A fish fry is set to begin at 5 p.m. Plates are $12/adults and $6/children. Fish plates will be sold while they last until 8 p.m. Paris Cornhole will host its tournament beginning at 5 p.m. The band, Long Shot, will begin its free performance at 6 p.m. The day’s events culminate with a large fireworks display beginning at 9 p.m. All are invited.
