The Dresden Board met on November 4 for their regularly scheduled monthly meeting and approved an ordinance to increase their alderman’s pay by $50.00. The city held a public hearing and the ordinance passed unanimously.

The board also approved a budget resolution for an insurance claim in the amount of $1,719.40 the city received for a patrol car that hit a deer. The second item was a Tennessee Highway Safety Grant that the police department received in the amount of $247.20. This was approved unanimously.

A2H Engineers recommended Utility Service Company out of Georgia. This was approved unanimously.

Alderman Kenneth Gatewood served his last meeting and Alderman Gwin Anderson stated that he ought to have a name tag to carry with him on his way out since one was never made for him during his time filling Dale Hutcherson’s vacant seat before Hutcherson took his position as Weakley County mayor.

Gatewood thanked the board of mayor and alderman.

“Two years ago I ran for alderman but I wasn’t elected and I have no regrets about that, but the I want to say that the city has come a long way in two years,” Gatewood stated.

The next regularly scheduled board meeting will be held on December 2 at 6 p.m. at city hall.
