Greenfield On-Site Consumption Resolution goes to November Ballot, Police Citations Ordinance Passes on First Reading

The on-site consumption resolution was approved by the Weakley County Election Commission and will be on the November 5 ballot for Greenfield voters to choose whether they want on-site restaurant style consumption of alcoholic beverages.

The board approved the first reading of an ordinance to increase citations in the city of Greenfield. The increase will go from the current $100 to $130. The ordinance will have to go through three readings and a public hearing before final adoption. The board approved quotes for the patrol car equipment came to $5,657 and will come out of the Police Department CD.

Greenfield was the only city in West Tennessee to be awarded the THDA Statewide Housing grant in the amount of $810,000. Applications are available at city hall for residents of Greenfield, but Mayor Cindy McAdams stated they wouldn’t be moving forward until September after a meeting to discuss the grant. Stipulations include plumbing, electric, foundations, sub-flooring, roof, handicap accessibility, and window and door replacement, however, homeowners cannot sell their homes for 5 years after repairs are made. Income and number of people living in the household have to meet requirements. Be sure to stop by city hall for more information.

The board approved a fire hydrant painting bid for $8,560. The amount will be pulled from the Fire Department CD. The board also approved the purchase of a fire truck with ARPA funds in the amount of $285,001 with $5,000 from the Fire Department CD to cover the amount that ARPA did not. The truck should be ready the last week of August.

The library received a TOP Grant (training opportunities public) in the amount of $1,313 with a local match of $61. The grant will be used for the libraries public hot spots for those who do not have access to internet. The grant will also help cover technology classes-the classes and instructors will be covered at a later date.
