James "Jimmy" Sellers Jr. 1939 - 2024

James W. Sellers, Jr. (Jimmy) age 85 of Dresden, TN died Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Baptist Hospital in Union City.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 am on June 6th with service to follow at 2:00 pm at Bowlin Funeral Home in Dresden.  Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery. 

Jimmy was born on January 24, 1939, in Lauderdale County to the late James W. Sellers Sr. and Irma Lucille Turner.  He was married to Dian Tuck Sellers for 63 years who preceded in death.  Jimmy is survived by three children.  Patricia (Ron) Phillips of Dresden, James (Bill) W. Sellers III (Joy) of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Sherrie (Brent) Wright of Greenfield.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren Chelsea (Jordan) Carver, Will Sellers, Eric(Ashley) Phillips, Allie Phillips, Reed (Kaitlyn) Wright, Amy Claire Wright, and Anna Dale Wright. Jimmy is also survived by seven great-grandchildren. Jimmy is also survived by a sister, Nina Smothers of Huntingdon, TN.

Jimmy was the retired owner of Sellers Appliances of Dresden, TN.  He was member of the Dresden Elks Lodge and former member of the Dresden Lions Club.  He was a retired member of the advisory board of Cadence Bank.  Jimmy was a life long hunter and fisherman, having been a hunting and fishing guide for more than twenty years.  

Jimmy was a man of many talents. He was Valedictorian of his graduating class.  He could make the best fried fish and hushpuppies.  Jimmy loved to put in a garden each summer and preserve all his homegrown vegetables.  When given a project, Jimmy could construct anything.  He leaves behind family and friends who will miss him.
