Mr. Larry Duane Dexter, age 85, of South Fulton, TN passed away early Thursday morning at the Obion County Nursing Home in Union City, TN.
Larry was born on May 7, 1939 in Fenton, MI to the late Cornell Dexter and Jeanette Cook Dexter.
Mr. Dexter belonged to the Sandy Branch Primitive Baptist Church and was a mechanic for John Deere in Union City and Martin, TN and Allied Equipment. He had served in the Army Reserves.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Nell (Ingram) Dexter to whom he married on October 6, 1991, a son, Shane Dexter of Keller, TX, and two step-daughters, Rhonda (Greg) Roach and Regina McKnight both of South Fulton, TN, one grandchild; Ian Dexter of Nolenville, TN, three step-grandchildren; Cory (Allyson) Williams of South Fulton, TN, Nick (Emily) Wright of West Chester, PA, Kristen Roach of Union City, TN and two great-grandchildren; Lennon Hill of Norfolk, VA and Annie Williams of South Fulton, TN, two sisters; Connie (Harry) Thomas of Lansing, MI and Janie Fisher of Holland, MI.
In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by a son Bradley Dexter, one brother, Harold Dexter and one sister, Laura Diane Jackson and a daughter- in-law, Traci Dexter.
Honorary pallbearers include Cory Williams, Kristen Roach and Ian Dexter.
Pallbearers will be Jason Jackson, Kelly Davidson, Larry Kimbel, Kenney Etherton, Zach Etherton and Dale Frazier.
Funeral services will be held 2PM Monday, May 13, 2024 at the Hornbeak Funeral Chapel with Elder Josh Hazlewood and Elder Danny Ferrel officiating burial will follow in the Sandy Branch Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8PM, Sunday in our funeral chapel.
