The city passed a stormwater management ordinance on the first reading. This is the first update to the ordinance since 2016. The document is 23 pages long and can be picked up at City Hall for anyone who needs a copy.

The second reading will take place on September 9 at 5:15 p.m. at Martin Police Department at the city’s regularly scheduled board meeting.

Martin Public Works Assistant Director Randal Winston was appointed Director. Winston has been Assistant Director for a year.

Katie Parr, Martin Public Library Director stated that there were 45,145 visitors to the library totaling approximately 3,700 a month coming into the library.  The library had 458 on-site programs and there were 46,466 books checked out

Martin Police Chief Phillip Fuqua stated that the Police Department has switched over from revolvers to pistols. “It's the first time since, I believe, 84 when they went from revolvers to pistols. And we did that by some of the seized weapons and some other weapons that we hadn't used in many, many years. Everybody's pretty excited about that,” Fuqua stated.

The city also approved a pavement bid from Ford Construction for $198,015.
