Are you needing some good ideas to use in your classroom of diverse learners? Don’t delay! Get your State of Tennessee ESL Endorsement through UT Martin’s College of Education, Health and Behavioral Sciences Graduate School. As you know, today’s population of students is increasingly diverse, and preparing yourself to be able to differentiate instruction effectively will reward you and your students in numerous ways.
UTM is offering the online ESL (English as a Second Language) Endorsement program with nine credit hours of graduate courses, two of which are being offered as seven-week courses in the Spring of 2024. A third will be offered later in the year. You can take them in whichever order is convenient for you. After you complete the nine hours of graduate coursework, you must pass the Praxis to get the Endorsement. The UTM Educator Preparation Program will process the paperwork through the State of Tennessee.
The ESL Endorsement will translate to useful strategies to teach your classroom of diverse learners.
The three courses are: TESL 700 – Principles of English as a Second Language; TESL710 – Strategies for Teaching English as a Second Language, and EDFN720 – Multicultural Education.
Soar above by advancing your teaching by adding an endorsement in ESL. ESL is at the forefront of many educational reforms. Teaching ESL in Tennessee is a statewide initiative and educators at all levels across the state feel the pressure to perform.
The endorsement in ESL is designed for students who have obtained a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and are
professionally licensed to teach.
This program provides students with a comprehensive analysis of differentiation skills, and interventions for ESL students. Our program seeks to prepare candidates to become effective ESL teachers, specialists, and leaders in the field of English as a second language.
