A Weakley County man was sentenced August 12 in Weakley County Circuit Court under Judge Jeff Parham for the Statutory Rape of a minor, a Class E Felony. 20-year-old Devon Latrace Patton was indicted under the May Grand Jury for unlawfully, feloniously, knowingly and recklessly having sexual penetration of a minor child (rape) when the victim was at least 13 years old but less than 18 years old and the said perpetrator was at least four years older than the victim.
Statutory Rape is a Class E felony with possible prison time of 1-6 years and $3,000 in fines. Patton was sentenced to serve two years, which was suspended under the special conditions of completing a psycho-sexual evaluation with state probation along with following any recommendations.
Patton was represented by Public Defender Martin Dunn and was held on a $15,000 bond.
