TISA Outcome Funds will be distributed to all school employees across the district in the form of one-time incentive bonuses, recognizing the collective efforts that led to the substantial academic progress that generated the funding.
This incentive funding from the state comes from major improvements in key academic areas: increased 3rd-grade reading proficiency, higher middle school ELA and math scores, and strong results in EPSOs (Early Postsecondary Opportunities) and ACT exams. These achievements were also key factors in Weakley County Schools earning a Level 5 designation from the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) earlier in the academic year. The distribution will follow a team-based approach, with teacher bonuses scaled according to their individual growth metrics. The bonuses will be paid to any current employee who was employed with Weakley County Schools during the 2023-2024 school year, which is when the outcome funds were earned.
“This is a direct reflection of the dedication and hard work of our teachers and staff and their unwavering commitment to students and their success,” said Jeff Cupples, Director of Schools. “Each employee of our school system has worked together to support our students, allowing them to achieve outstanding growth and it’s only fitting that they share in the rewards of their accomplishments.”
“Student growth doesn’t happen by chance. It's a direct result of teachers making connections with students while using research-based practices and high-quality instructional materials to move the needle,” shared Terri Stephenson, Supervisor of Elementary Instruction. “We are so impressed with the effort all staff give each day. Students first, always!”
Donald Ray High, Supervisor of Instruction for Grades 6-12, highlighted teachers’ commitment to knowing each student’s data, allowing them to differentiate instruction according to student needs.
“By using student data to differentiate instruction, our teachers and staff are ensuring that every student is met where they are at and guided towards success,” he noted. “This approach has been key to the growth we’re seeing across our schools, and it’s an honor to reward them for their dedication.”
Weakley County Schools is dedicated to recognizing and investing in the success of our teachers and staff and therefore investing in the success of our students and communities.
